Aggela Inglessi (M.Sc.)

Psychologist, Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Born in Athens, I have spent all my childhood & adult life living, studying and working in several countries: Nigeria, USA, France, Lebanon, Greece, UK, Belgium, Luxembourg. The experience gives me the flexibility to adapt whilst retaining an ‘outsider’s’ position; crucial attributes, in my view, for an empathic understanding of alienation and psychic conflict. After studies in Psychology (Paris V Sorbonne), Sciences of Education (Paris VIII)- Maîtrise 1989; training & assisting in non-directive group psychotherapy (AGORA, 1985-1990), I worked in Athens (1991-‘96) designing & animating children’s library & museum education programmes (Aetopoulion Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, ET2 national TV). In 1998, I obtained a M.Sc. in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology (UCL, London) then trained as a Child Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (Anna Freud Centre, 2003). From 1999 to 2005 I worked both in the National Health Service and the Anna Freud Centre as a trainee then qualified Child Psychotherapist (Wolverton Gardens Child & Family Mental Health Service; Anna Freud Centre Therapy & Court Assessment Service). Moving to Luxembourg, I established a private practice (2007-2014), providing diagnostic, therapy, parent-work services to children, families & young adults. Since 2015, I have relocated to Athens, working both in private practice & in NGOs with refugee children and families.
