Penelope Kouvaras

Born in 1966 in Patras. She finished Arsakeio Patras and studied two years at the Medical School of the University of Pavia in Italy. She interrupted her medical studies to deal exclusively with painting. She studied painting at the School of Fine Arts. She graduated in 1993. She was a fellow of the Onasis Foundation from 1989 to 1992.
With Erasmus scholarship from the State Scholarship Foundation attended cycle BA Hons Fine Art at Middlesex Polytechnic of London in 1991.
She had two solo exhibitions and has participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She became interested in electronic media in 1998 and today work in video and computer is part of her artistic work.
From 2006 to 2013 she worked on the design and creation of documentaries. The film ‘The dollars Mount’ screened at the documentary festival in Thessaloniki and in other international festivals.
Also since 2006 she has worked on web research as a website administrator. In 2015 she attended web design seminars at the University of Athens.
Since October 2015 she created in collaboration with M. Igglesi the video project ‘non stop motion animation by people in motion’, for children and adolescents in refugee shelters in Athens in cooperation with EADAP.
